Famous Cuisines of Jharkhand

Litti

One of the famous food of Jharkhand, inspired by Bihar and also famous in parts of UP. The dough ball is made of wheat flour and is stuffed with sattu which is a chickpea and barley flour. It can be enjoyed with aalu bharta, baigan bharta, chicken curry, and chokha Just after the litti is prepared, it is brushed over with ghee to enhance its taste.

Daal Pitha

Rugdha

Rugra is an indigenous vegetable of Jharkhand. These are round small balls rich in protein and minerals. Monsoon brings abundance of Rugda in market. Locals turn it into a spicy and mouthwatering dish which can be served with the traditional chilka.

Chilka Roti

It is prepared using rice flour and besan. It is prepared in the households during festive seasons and special occasions. It is generally served with a curry, mutton curry, or chana dal chutney.

Mal-Pua

Dipped in sugary syrup, Malpua is made by mixing maida, sugar and banana in milk. To add richness dry fruits like almonds, raisin are added. Then deep fried in desi ghee or oil. Most delicious desserts to try in Jharkhand.

Thekua

Thekua is a deep-fried traditional sweet Indian cookie and is prepared on Chhath puja as an offering to Sun God. It is prepared with whole wheat flour and sugar or jaggery. Also, it is used as a sweet snack.

Bamboo-shoots
