कांके डैम झारखंड राज्य के राजधानी रांची मे स्थित है। यह राँची रेलवे स्टेशन से ८ किलोमीटर दूर और एयरपोर्ट से १२ किलोमीटर दूर कांके रोड मे स्थित है। यह लगभग ८ वर्ग किलोमीटर मे फैला है। यह गोंडा पहाड़ी (रॉक गार्डेन) से सटा हुआ है इसलिए इस डैम का मनोरम दृश्य रॉक गार्डेन से भी देखा जा सकता है।
इस डैम से शहर के लगभग आधे हिस्से मे पनि की आपूर्ति की जाती है। साथ ही साथ इस जगह को संगीतमय फब्बारों और नौका विहार के साथ पर्यटन स्थल के रूप मे विकसित किया जा रहा है। यहाँ एक धनुषाकार सीढ़ी है जो पनि से हो कर जाती है जिसपरसे सूर्योदय और सूर्यास्त का मनोरम दृश्य देखा जा सकता है। सायंकाल मे यहाँ सूर्य की प्रबुद्ध रोशनी टिमटिमाती हुई छंटा बिखेरती हैं। यहाँ बच्चों के मनोरंजन के लिए चिल्ड्रेन पार्क भी है।
यहाँ ऑटो रिक्शा और स्थानीय रूप से उपलब्ध सार्वजनिक वाहनों से आसानी से जाया जा सकता है
Located on the Kanke Road, at 8kms from the Ranchi railway station and 12 kms from the Birsa Munda airport is the Kanke Dam. Covering an expanse of 8 sq.kms, the water body is overlooked by the Gonda hillocks. The huge dark boulders of the latter instantly catch the eye ever from a distance. The dam supplies potable water to nearly half the city’s population in the adjoining areas.
The arched staircase that leads down to the waters of the lake also offers a panoramic view of the sunrise and sunset. The waters of the lake shimmer in the lights of its illuminated banks in the evening. It can be easily reached through auto rickshaws and other locally available public transport.
